Main integer parameters

The main integer parameters of the problem are specified in the name.i1 file on the IP line:

IP NELEM NNOD ITED 0 NGD 0 KPER NPSN 0 KSS

$\mathtt{NELEM}$The total number of elements in the mesh, including any connector elements.
$\mathtt{NNOD}$The total number of nodes in the mesh.
$\mathtt{ITED}$The default value of the element type identification number, see the Reference Manual. It applies when the element type $\mathtt{ITE}$ is not specified in the element description. The default value is $\mathtt{ITED}=56$ for 3D problems and $\mathtt{ITED}=6$ for 2D problems.
$\mathtt{NGD}$The default order of numerical integration for an element, $2\le\mathtt{NGD}\le4$. It applies when the integration order $\mathtt{NG}$ is not specified in the element description. The default value is $\mathtt{NGD}=3$.
$\mathtt{KPER}$The periodicity key.
$=0$non-periodic mesh
$=1$periodic mesh
$\mathtt{NPSN}$The number of nodes lying on the periodicity surface (for $\mathtt{KPER}=1$), or the number of nodes lying in the plane of symmetry (for $\mathtt{KPER}=0$).
$\mathtt{KSS}$The 2D problem type key. For heat transfer problems, only the values $\mathtt{KSS}=0$ (plane problem) and $\mathtt{KSS}=2$ (axisymmetric problem) can be used.
$=-1$plane stress ($\sigma_{xz}=\sigma_{yz}=\sigma_{zz}=0$)
$=0$plane strain ($\varepsilon_z=0$)
$=1$generalized plane strain ($\varepsilon_z=\varepsilon_{z0}=\text{const}$.)
$=2$axisymmetric problem (the axis of rotation is the $y$ axis)
Note
Although the parameters in the fourth, sixth, and ninth positions are not currently used, the numbers 0 must still be formally specified.
Note
The IP line must be the first non-empty line in the input file. Lines containing only a comment are also considered empty lines.
