Problem description

The cantilever beam shown is subjected to uniformly distributed loading $l_y$ per unit length and the end force $F_x,$ $F_y.$ Perform a large displacement analysis under plane stress conditions and compare the results with the linear solution.

Material properties

$E=2\times10^5\text{ MPa},$ $\nu=0.3.$


Clamped at $x=0.$ Statically determinate.


$l_y-100\text{ N/m},$ $F_x=20{,}000\text{ N},$ $F_y=-20\text{ N}.$


It should be noted that the nonlinear solution significantly differs from the linear one.
